Restore predictable windshield wiper delay cycles with this 12-volt intermittent wiper relay, engineered to the 1J0 955 531 specification. Designed as a precise replacement for Volkswagen Mk4 Golf and Jetta models, the component maintains compatibility with the shared modular chassis architecture used across select Audi and Porsche MK4-era platforms.

This relay bridges the electrical signal between your dashboard wiper switch and the rear windshield or front washer motor, controlling the dwell duration when the intermittent setting is engaged. Original units frequently degrade from repeated thermal cycling and contact oxidation, producing symptoms like skipped pauses, continuous high-speed operation, or total signal loss. Installing an exact-match replacement recalibrates the circuit timing to factory parameters without harness rewiring or ECU reprogramming.

Fitment & Technical Specifications

OEM Reference Code: 1J0 955 531
Electrical Rating: 12V DC continuous load design
Target Models: Mk4 Volkswagen Golf, Mk4 Volkswagen Jetta
Extended Compatibility: VW Group MK4-generation architecture (applicable Audi and Porsche variants)

The unit mounts directly into the interior junction block, aligning with the manufacturer's pinout layout for immediate plug-and-swap installation. Contact load capacity and switching thresholds match the original circuit tolerances, preventing voltage drops that can damage wiper motors or flasher modules. If your delay intervals drift, the switch backlogs without response, or the system activates during dry conditions, replacing this relay resolves the core communication breakdown.
