Restore reliable engine cranking and steady fuel delivery with this replacement fuel pump relay engineered for 2000 through 2005.5 Volkswagen MK4 applications.

Exact Fitment & Cross-Reference

This unit matches factory specification 1J0 906 383 C and drops directly into the dashboard-mounted relay housing on Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, and GTI chassis built within the stated production window. The plastic carrier geometry, terminal layout, and base resistance correspond precisely to the original mounting cavity and control module signaling.

Operation & Failure Indicators

Volkswagen's security-enabled immobilizer architecture routes battery voltage through this electromechanical switch before reaching the lift pump mounted above the exhaust tank. Internal contact pitting or coil fatigue interrupts power, causing delayed starting, idle stalling, or complete no-crank conditions despite healthy batteries and starter motors. Look for these patterns:

Key turn yields silence instead of pump priming hum
Engine dies shortly after reaching operating temperature
Intermittent hesitation under heavy throttle or uphill grades
Check engine light illuminating with fuel pressure correlation codes

Access & Quick Diagnostics

Remove the driver-side kick panel to expose the lower relay cluster. The target socket sits near the firewall, typically marked FR4. Slide it straight out, insert this replacement, and press firmly until it seats flush. To isolate the fault, rotate the suspect relay with an identical adjacent slot like the HVAC blower or wiper relay; if the pump continues misfiring in the new position, the relay is functional and attention should shift toward the ground strap, wiring loom, or pump assembly itself.
